A lovely example of the Rolex Oyster Royal 6144. Hailing from circa 1952, this 31mm manual wind vintage Rolex is perfect for those who prefer their watches understated and timeless.
The Rolex Oyster Royal was first introduced in 1933 and was known for its centrally pivoted second hand, as opposed to the traditional small subsidiary seconds register commonly used at the time.
Rolex being masters of finding niche audiences to market to, originally marketed the Royal to medical professionals, claiming that the large second hand would make it easier to measure a patient's heartbeat over a 60-second period.
However, as center seconds became more popular, the Oyster Royal was offered in both center and sub-seconds formats as we have here. The Royal name ultimately became more of a decorative feature, allowing Rolex to offer more models in its range.
Overall a lovely vintage Rolex dress watch that is sure to give its new owner decades of pleasure! We've really squeezed our margin on this to keep it under 2k. Its probably a matter of months, not years that (even us) will be able to sell any vintage Rolex under 2k so don't miss out!
